Touching yourself, Mr.?

Yesterday, when I took the buss downtown for work, there was only one available seat left, which I took. Besides me, against the window, there was this old man, probably between 75-80 years old. He had his legs wide open, and his hands were on his crotch. I hadn’t seen that before I sat down, so I kept sitting there waiting for another seat to become available, which didn’t happen.

Despite my body being quite narrow, I was sitting with half my butt off the seat. This man stared at me a few times and kept spreading his legs as he tried to touch my thighs or something. It was totally gross, but I don’t like getting attention so I remained there waiting until I had to get off the bus. I thought the man would realize he was acting like an old pig and that he’d behave better, but he didn’t. He didn’t even cover his mouth when he coughed over my head, nor did he try not to make disgusting sounds when he got snot coming down his throat.

As soon as the one seat became available, I moved. The man then stared at me looking annoyed and I don’t know why. After all, it wasn’t me the one being the pig. The whole episode was pretty “ew” for me. I would have understood if the person sitting next to me was fat and that his/her body would occupy one and a half seats, but this man wasn’t fat, nor did he need to keep his hands on his crotch. I don’t get why people don’t show a minimal amount of decency and respect for other people these days. What happened to acting civilized? Have I become old-fashioned at such a young age? Am I being unreasonable here?
